The Van of Valor Finds a Home in North Port – And Extends an Invitation
NORTH PORT, Fla. – The journey of 27,116 miles is complete. After 280 consecutive days on the road, the Van of Valor — a mobile sanctuary carrying the profound stories of America’s heroes — has found its new home in Southwest Florida.
Dr. Kevin Wallace and anthropologist Lauren Wallace traversed the entire contiguous United States without a single day off, dedicated to preserving the nation’s most sacred narratives.
They collected the first-hand oral histories of 317 Purple Heart recipients, Prisoners of War, Gold Star Families, and countless other veterans and survivors — stories of sacrifice, resilience, and valor that define the American spirit.
The Van of Valor itself is scribed with the names of nearly 450 fallen heroes, a list that grows daily.
Now settled in North Port, the Van of Valor team is eager to share these powerful testimonies with the community and beyond.
They recently participated in the Venice Lion’s Club “Mutt Strutt” fundraiser, an event supporting the purchase of a service dog for a wounded veteran.
Showcasing a portion of their collected work, they witnessed how these stories resonate, inspire, and bring people together in support of those who served.
