Van of Valor Announces New Creative Chapter: “Songs of Sacrifice” Series to Debut

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Dr. Kevin P. Wallace, founder and cohost of the nationally recognized Van of Valor project, announced today a groundbreaking expansion of the initiative’s mission to honor America’s combat wounded and fallen heroes. 

The husband-wife team will begin producing unique, original music and companion video pieces to artistically represent each leg of their past, ongoing, and future journeys across the United States.

This new series, dubbed “Songs of Sacrifice,” aims to capture the emotional and historical landscape of the Van of Valor’s travels, starting with its inaugural episode chronicling the project’s very beginnings.

“For so many sleepless nights and long days, we’ve carried the stories of our heroes in our hearts and across our airwaves,” said Wallace. “Now, we want to translate the spirit of our mission — the resilience, the loss, the camaraderie, the landscapes — into another universal language: music. This is not a departure from our core, but a deeper immersion into it.”

The first release will reflect on Episode 1, where the Van of Valor team departed from the historic sands of Manteo, N.C., on the Outer Banks, embarking on a poignant journey through the Carolinas and Georgia.

The music and video will evoke the solemnity of that first rollout, the team’s early interviews, and the powerful connections forged at military installations and hometowns across the Southeast.

The episode also highlights a return months later to Fayetteville, N.C. — home to Fort Bragg — to conduct searing interviews with Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Special Forces heroes, whose stories of unimaginable bravery and sacrifice are etched into the foundation of the project.

Since that first leg, the Van of Valor has evolved into a critical oral history archive. To date, the Wallaces have conducted 317 in-depth interviews with wounded veterans, Gold Star families, and several other valorous veterans and their families, and sometimes former units. Each conversation is a sacred testament to the cost of freedom and the unbreakable spirit of the military community.

“The ‘Songs of Sacrifice’ series is an invitation,” Wallace explains. “We’re inviting our dedicated followers and new audiences to step even closer behind the scenes. To feel the weight and the purpose of the journey through melody and imagery, while our full interviews continue to serve as the unwavering, factual bedrock of our mission. This creative layer will complement, not replace, our solemn duty to honor.”
