Kennedy Sanders – The Mural with Eyes That Follow You

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“HER FAVORITE COLOR WAS PURPLE. HER BLOOD TYPE WAS O-POSITIVE. HER HEART WAS EVEN MORE SO.”

Twenty-Four-Year-Old Kennedy Sanders Was Killed in the Same Drone Attack That Took Breonna Moffett

WAYCROSS, GA – The first thing you see when you drive into Waycross is her face.

A mural. Larger than life. Painted on the side of a building on a main thoroughfare. Her eyes follow you as you pass, as if she’s watching over the town that raised her.

Specialist Kennedy L. Sanders, twenty-four years old, was killed in the same drone attack on Tower 22, Jordan, that took Sergeant Breonna Moffett on January 28, 2024. She had a twin brother. Her favorite color was purple. Her blood type was O-positive.

“Universal donor in all ways,” the Van of Valor team wrote. “A young woman who gave constantly to others.”

Purple ribbons still cling to trees and lampposts in Waycross—faded but still there, over a year after her death. The community has let them remain.
