FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GOLD STAR PARENTS WHO LOST THEIR SON IN AFGHANISTAN REVEAL THE WORDS THAT SAVED THEM

“Remembrance Is the Highest Form of Honor” – Inscribed on Sergeant Donald Scott Morrison’s Challenge Coin

BLUE ASH, OH – The knock came on September 26, 2010.

“I flat out told them there’s no way, you’ve got the wrong house,” Don Morrison said. “This is a dream—can you wake me up?”

His son, Sergeant Donald “Scott” Morrison, had been killed by an IED on a convoy near Kandahar, Afghanistan. He had joined the Army to finish the tour of his best friend, Brandon Hunter, who had been killed in Iraq.

In the aftermath, the Morrisons found purpose: ensuring Scott would never be forgotten. They lobbied for a portion of an Ohio highway to bear his name. They designed a challenge coin inscribed with the words: “Remembrance is the highest form of honor.”

And they offered advice to anyone who doesn’t know what to say to a Gold Star family:
