FINAL CALL: “Van of Valor” Authors and Marathon Bombing Survivor to Lead Patriotic Town Hall TOMORROW at American Heritage Museum

Event takes place just 24 hours before America’s 250th birthday, offering a final moment of reflection on the cost of freedom.

HUDSON, MA (July 1, 2026) – With the nation on the cusp of its 250th birthday, the American Heritage Museum is issuing a final call for attendees to join a unique pre-July 4th tradition. Tomorrow, Thursday, July 2, at 6:00 P.M., the museum will host “History After Hours: Oral Histories of American Patriotism,” a town hall event featuring the authors of the new book Van of Valor.

As the country prepares for fireworks and festivities, this event offers a grounding moment to remember the individuals who made those celebrations possible. Retired Senior Master Sergeant Dr. Kevin P. Wallace and co-author L. Wright Wallace will share stories from their 27,000-mile journey across America, documenting the sacrifices of 317 Purple Heart recipients, POWs, and Gold Star Families.

The evening will be moderated by Marc Fucarile, a survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and a beacon of resilience. Fucarile, who lost his leg in the attack, will open the floor to the audience, encouraging veterans and civilians alike to share their own family legacies of service.

“This event is the perfect way to spend the night before the 4th of July,” said Dr. Wallace. “While we celebrate our nation’s birth, we must also honor those who ensured its survival. Marc’s story of overcoming tragedy represents the unbreakable spirit we are celebrating this weekend.”

The presentation will feature artifacts and tokens from the Wallaces’ mission. While the actual “Van of Valor” vehicle is not on site, attendees will get an intimate look at the physical keepsakes collected during the journey. The authors will be available for a book signing and Q&A immediately following the 90-minute presentation.
